Tripura registers decline in crimes since 2018: CM

Agartala, Nov 09: Tripura has registered a significant decline in overall crimes since 2018, said Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister, who chaired a meeting with the police officials including Director General of Police (DGP) Amitabh Ranjan, Superintendent of Police from every district and other officers at the police headquarters, expressed his satisfaction over the present law and order situation in the state.
Speaking to the media, he said the opposition parties repeatedly claim that the law and order is deteriorating but during the meeting it has been found that the state recorded a sharp decline in the crimes since 2018.
“Be it murder, rape, atrocities against women or any other crime, the state is seeing a decline in the overall crimes since 2018. As the state is going to elections in the next few months, the officials concerned have been instructed so that the law and order doesn’t deteriorate,” the Chief Minister told reporters.
In case of law and order, Tripura is holding a good position, Dr. Saha said.
He said, some people from the opposition parties are trying to break the law and order. In this context, he warned that the state government would not tolerate any such attempt from anybody.
During interactions, the police officials highlighted some issues including shortage of manpower and lack in infrastructure. The Chief Minister assured that steps would be taken to further strengthen the Tripura Police.
