Agartala, Oct 28: Tripura Police on Friday claimed that property offenses had drastically come down in the state over the past few months.
“During the last three months, police have arrested over 95 property offenders in the State. Efforts of Police to identify the miscreants and arrest the involved offenders especially in property offences are continuing,” AIGP (law and order) Jyotisman Daschaudhuri said.
Addressing a press conference at police headquarters, the AIGP said, senior formations are regularly monitoring the situation. He hoped that with the help of general public police would be able to control the situation strong-handedly.
Replying to a query, he said, police are investigating the gang-rape incidents of Kalyanpur and Kumarghat.
“In Kumarghat incident, six persons have so far been arrested including two FIR named accused persons. Police are investigating if any other person is involved in the incident. Appropriate action will be taken,” he said, adding that no stone would be left unturned to solve the case.
He further said, the accused in two other rape incidents- one at Irani and the other at Jogendranagar have also been arrested.
“Police take prompt action and arrest the culprits whenever any crime takes place,” the AIGP said and assured that no culprit would be spared.
The police officer also said, special drives are continuing against helmetless driving, illegal parking, over speeding, and violation of other traffic rules.
“During traffic enforcement in the current month, over Rs. 60 lakh was realized as fine money under various sections of MV Act. Traffic enforcement will continue to prevent drunken driving, over speeding, fatal accidents, and other traffic violations,” he said.
He said, special anti-narcotics drive by Tripura Police is continuing all over the state and police seized 2245 kg Ganja, 256 gm Heroine, 1911 bottles of contraband cough syrup and 2464 Yaba tablets during such raids this month.
The Tripura Police registered 38 cases under various sections of the NDPS Act and arrested 54 persons during this period. Such special drives would be intensified in the coming days to achieve the goal of drugs-free Tripura.
Meanwhile, Police Commemoration Day was observed at AD Nagar police ground where Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and other senior officers of the police and administration paid tribute to the martyrs.
On the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, a parade is going to be held at Monoranjan Debbarma Smriti Stadium on October 31 next; the Chief Minister will take part.
One contingent of Tripura State Rifles is going to participate in the central parade on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on October 31 in Kevedia, Gujarat.
