Agartala, Feb 07: Focusing on green energy, Tripura has set a target of at least 50000 registrations under the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (PM-SGMBY).
The state power minister Ratan Lal Nath on Friday inaugurated a mega camp organised to generate more awareness and attract more registrations under the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana here at Agartala 79 Tilla area.
The minister said that there is a need to generate more awareness on the PM-SGMBY as the Prime Minister has laid emphasis on green energy. The Minister appealed to people to become power producers by tapping into renewable energy sources and said that the PM SHMBY is not only to generate solar energy but also it shall generate employment opportunities, where people can install maximum KW of solar plate in their house and sell the power to the TSECL.
“A 1 kW solar panel system, costing Rs 65,000 to Rs 75,000, will be made affordable through a government subsidy of up to Rs 33,000. The subsidy increases to Rs 66,000 for 2 kW systems and Rs 85,800 for 3 kW systems,” he told reporters.
