Agartala April 17: With Model Code of Conduct enforced in the state in view of Lok Sabha elections, gang rape of two minor tribal girls were reported at Gabardi area under Srinagar Police Station in West Tripura District.

Police arrested three minor tribal boys in connection with the case lodged by the family members of the victim girls on Tuesday night and also launched a manhunt against four other accused persons.

Allegedly, the two minor girls were brought to the area from Ambasa in Dhalai district of the state on Monday and later brutally gang raped by seven youths.

Later, on witnessing the incident the locals handed over the victim girls to their respective families.

At present they are undergoing treatment at the Dhalai district hospital in Ambasa.

The families of both the victim girls lodged a written complaint against all the seven accused at Srinagar police station on Tuesday.

The police took up the case under Indian Penal Code 376(D) and POCSO Act and arrested three minor tribal boys on Tuesday night from Jarulbachai Dukhiyakubra area.

Srinagar police station OC Dilip Debbarma said that accused Ajia Debbarma has confessed to the incident and the other 2 minors are being interrogated at the police station.

Meanwhile, exemplary punishment of the accused is being demanded from all quarters in such heinous incidents.
