Ugandan woman case: 3 women traffickers held in Tripura

Charilam, May 14: The Bishalgarh police arrested three notorious women traffickers on Saturday. The arrested individuals are Arabul Rahman, Yiddish Mia, and Maman Mia. All of whom hail from Bishalgarh Raghunathpur.
According to reports, the gang attempted to smuggle a Ugandan woman to Bangladesh on May 4 last. The woman was brought from the Agartala railway station and detained at Bishalgarh by the gang. However, she managed to escape from their clutches and sought refuge at the Bishalgarh police station. Her bag containing her passport, mobile and other documents was in the custody of the smugglers.
Subsequently, the Bishalgarh Women’s Police Station filed a case against the woman under the Passport Act, and she is currently in jail.
The Investigating Officer of the case, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rahul Das, initiated the investigation, which led to the identification and arrest of the culprits.
The police arrested three people involved in trafficking activities. The police also recovered the Ugandan woman's passport bag and seized the Maruti car used in transporting the victim from Agartala to Bishalgarh.
Additional Superintendent of Police Manabendra Chowdhury of Sepahijala district said a trafficking gang is active in the area, and further investigation is underway to bring all the perpetrators to justice.
SDPO Rahul Das emphasized that the gang was organized and involved with brokers in Bangladesh. Legal action will be taken against all involved and their accomplices.
