Unemployed youths stage protest, demand recruitment as multi-purpose workers

Agartala Nov 24: In demand of immediate recruitment, a group of trained multi-purpose workers (MPW) and Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) trained candidates on Thursday staged protest in front of the Directorate of Health Services, Gurkhabasti, Agartala.
According to the candidates the health department has at least 791 vacant posts for MPWs. However, so far no initiative has been taken up by the government to recruit the unemployed youths into the vacant posts.
Speaking to the reporters one among the trained job seekers said, “We have completed the MPW training. Accordingly, we met with the director of the department of health services more than once. We were told that there are massive vacancies, but no initiative is taken for recruitment”.
The youths further added, “On September 21, 2017, advertisement for 791 MPW vacant posts was issued and interview for the same was completed. But the government later canceled the interview. No new MPW has been recruited since then”.
“791 posts are now added with numerous vacant posts after many got retired”, the youths added.
With the demand of recruitment into all vacant MPW posts, and recruitment of one male and one female MPW in each sub-health center across the state, the trained youths placed deputation to the Director of Health Services.
