Churaibari, March 28: The Dharmanagar Sub divisional Forest rangers and officers impounded a pick up vehicle loaded with illegal timber worth Rs 20 lakhat Ananda Bazar area on Thursday night.

Acting on a tip off, the Dharmanagar sub divisional forest officer Ashok Kumar along with the forest ranger Supriya Debnath impounded the vehicle bearing registration number AS11EC/0453. The driver of the vehicle however managed to escape from the spot.

Forest officer Ashok Kumar said that a total of 100 ft. illegal timber worth around Rs 20 lakh was recovered from the vehicle. He said that a specific case will be registered against the owner of the vehicle.
