Agartala/ Santirbazar, June 11: The people living in Kowaifung ADC Village in Jolaibari of South Tripura district have expressed strong resentment over the poor construction of a new road in the locality. 

The locals on Tuesday alleged that the brick-soled road, meant to improve transportation, was built with substandard materials. The road started suffering damages after light rainfall. 

Locals also alleged that engineer Bimal Das, who implemented the project, ignored proper planning and used low-quality bricks to embezzle funds. 

The villagers viewed that Das deliberately used poor materials to undermine Minister Suklacharan Noatia, who initiated the project. 

They sought intervention of Noatia and the state government. They demanded an investigation into the matter and action against those involved. The villagers also questioned inaction of the local Block Development Officer.
