Agartala, Jan 19: Vivekananda Vichar Mancha in collaboration with the Rashtravadi Karmachari Sangh, Tripura Pradesh and the Rashtravadi Shikshak Sangh, Tripura Pradesh organized a blood donation camp at Nazrul Kalakshetra in Agartala on Sunday.
Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated the programme in presence of AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder and other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, Nath highlighted the importance of blood donation to inspire and motivate the youth.
He pointed out that with a population of around 42 lakh in the state, approximately 1 percent—equivalent to 42 thousand units of blood—is recommended for donation annually.
This target was successfully achieved during the 2022-23 financial year, with 42 thousand people donating blood, Nath added. He stressed the need to continue this trend in the future.
Nath also appreciated individuals who organize blood donation camps to mark special occasions in their lives and acknowledged those who donate blood frequently.
Highlighting the health benefits of regular blood donation, Nath mentioned that doctors recommend it as a practice that significantly reduces the risk of cancer and promotes overall well-being.
