Udaipur, Sept 06: A woman was arrested after allegedly attempting to poison the mid-day meal at Sadar Para High School under Garji Police Station. The incident occurred during the morning hours when the primary section’s meal was being prepared. Police said that while the cook left to fetch rice from a nearby room, a woman from the neighbouring house, identified as Shukla Marak, allegedly mixed pesticide into the boiling water.

The cook returned and caught the woman in the act. Local residents, alerted to the situation, rushed to the scene and confronted the suspect. Police from the Garji outpost were immediately notified, and officers arrived to arrest the woman and control the growing tension.

Haradhan Bhowmik, the headmaster of the school, confirmed the incident, noting that there are 91 students from grades 1 to 5 who could have been affected if the meal had been served. Thanks to the cook’s vigilance, a major disaster was averted.
