Woman lodges complaint against Assam policeman over sexual assault and extortion

Churaibari, April 18: A married woman of Khadimpara of East Phulbari Ward No. 3 under Churaibari police station lodged a complaint with the Dharmanagar court against a police person of Assam identified as Waris Ahmed.
The woman identified as Chapla Begum alleged that after having some family dispute with her husband Sabool Mia, she along with her child was living in a rented house at Badarpur in Assam. Taking advantage of her aloneness, another man identified as Raju Uddin developed a relationship with her as her brother and often used to visit her rented house. Later, when Chapla Begum shared the matter with the policeman Waris Ahmed, who is presently posted in Assam Police, he started developing a relationship with her.
It was alleged that the policeman Waris Ahmed, who was married and having four children started assaulting Chapla Begum sexually with marriage proposals and it continued for at least two years. Later the policeman allegedly extorted Rs. 9.5 lakh from Chapla Begum in the name of getting a house for her. She alleged that the police also threatened dire consequences in the past.
Later, when Chapla Begum moved to her father's house in Jherjheri village under Bazarichara police station, her husband Sabool Mia went there and got to know about the issues that Chapla Begum was facing for the last 2 years. She later moved to Dharmanagar Court and filed a complaint against the policeman Warish Ahmed. She also filed a separate complaint with Churaibari Police Station.
