Agartala Jan 16: In a commendable effort to address the pressing issue of road safety and increasing rate of accidents across the city, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Women's College, Agartala has taken to the streets to create awareness among the public.
The initiative aims to educate vehicle drivers and pedestrians about various road safety issues to prevent accidents and promote safer driving habits.
As part of this campaign, NSS volunteers have been actively engaging with the community, distributing informative pamphlets, and holding interactive sessions at key locations throughout the city.
Their outreach efforts focus on critical topics such as the importance of wearing seatbelts, adhering to speed limits, avoiding the use of mobile phones while driving, and understanding pedestrian rights.
An NSS student from Women's College, actively involved in the initiative, emphasized the urgent need for road safety education, citing the increasing number of accidents in the region as a wake-up call for all road users.
"We have witnessed numerous tragic incidents that could have been avoided with proper awareness and responsible behaviour on the roads," she said.
"Our goal is to instil a sense of responsibility and caution among drivers and pedestrians alike. By reaching out to the community and highlighting the consequences of reckless driving, we hope to make a positive impact and save lives”, she added.
The initiative has received positive feedback from the community, with many appreciating the dedication and enthusiasm of the NSS volunteers.
The Women's College NSS unit plans to sustain this campaign in the long term, with regular activities and events to keep the momentum going.
