Agartala, Feb 02: In a tragic incident, a youth was killed following an argument over "love affairs" in broad daylight at Amtali in West Tripura district on Friday.

The murder accused- Samrat Debnath, a shop owner, was arrested soon after the Incident.

According to reports, the disagreement between Samrat Debnath and Sayan Bhowmik, employee of another shop at Amtali, escalated rapidly. Their verbal altercation soon turned violent. 

Sayan, who hailed from Durgapur area in Bishalgarh, was severely attacked by Samrat with knief and other hard object and he died on the spot. 

Amtali police rushed to the spot and sent the body to hospital for post mortem. Police also nabbed the accused and seized the weapon.

Superintendent of Police, West Tripura Kiran Kumar along with SDPO Amtali Prasun Kanti Tripura also visited the spot.

According to local people, the duo had an argument over love affairs.
