Agartala Nov 26: Ignoring episodial attacks on Congress rallies at various places across the state, Tripura Pradesh Congress is carrying forward “Tripura Bachao-Bharat Jodo Yatra” with zeal and enthusiasm.
On the 8th day of the campaign, former MLA and veteran congress leader, Asish Kumar Saha led the rally from Congress Bhavan that traversed various routes of Ramnagar assembly constituency in the capital city.
Speaking from the rally, Asish Kumar Saha said, “Our programs are going on across the state as a part of the ‘Tripura Bachao-Bharat Jodo’ campaign inspired from the mission of Rahul Gandhi to voice against burning issues including unemployment, unprecedented hike in prices of essential commodities, falling economy, divisive politics under BJP-led government and many more issues that has gripped the state and country”.
“Today too, the Congress is holding programs at several places across the state. We are trying to unite the people to fight against the fascist government amid BJP’s efforts to suppress the people’s voice”, he added.
The statement came after over 20 Congress workers were allegedly attacked by BJP-backed goons in three locations during “Bharat Jodo Tripura Bachao Yatra” on Friday.
Condemning such attacks over opposition party programs that has been permitted by Police, Saha said, “The attacks by ruling party is a sign of fear as the party has started losing support of the common people”.
Asish Kumar Saha further said, “The foot march has received a remarkable response. Thousands of Congress workers from across the state joined the rallies organised to mark the occasion. In sub-division headquarters like Kamalpur, Khowai, Agartala, Bishalgarh, Udaipur, Sonamura, and Sabroom, the response of the people was inspiring for us.”
Meanwhile, the campaign is seen as a big chance for the Congress to rebuild a strong public connect.
