Agartala, Nov 06: The CPI-M state secretary Jitendra Choudhury on Monday castigated the opposition TIPRA Motha party and questioned their role over ‘inadequate’ fund flow for the development of ADCs in Tripura.
Addressing a press conference here at the party headquarter, Choudhury said, “At a time when the BJP-led coalition government in Tripura is negligent towards the development of the ADCs in the state and not releasing adequate fund sanctioned for the ADC, the main opposition party – TIPRA Motha having invisible understanding with the BJP government finds no agenda to work for the development of the indigenous tribes of the state.”
“The TIPRA Motha party is exploiting the indigenous people of the state in the name of their Greater Tipraland demand, whereas the poor tribal people in the ADCs are reeling under acute crisis,” he told reporters.
He said, “The TIPRA Motha party is negligent towards several other issues including village council election, which have still not been conducted by the state government.”
“We have been seeing that as the main opposition party, the TIPRA Motha refrained from slogging against corruption, nepotism and deterioration of law and order. It is clear that the TIPRA Motha party has managed to join the BJP’s misrule strategy to exploit the people of this state,” he added.
On the other hand, the CPI-M MLA Jitendra Choudhury left no stone unturned to hold the BJP led coalition government responsible for the growing drug menace in the state of Tripura. He alleged, “The government has completely failed to bring a control over the growing drug menace in the state, where the recent report of the Ministry of Home Affairs lists Tripura as No. 1 state in drug dealing.”
He explained that the drug menace is growing in the state due to the growing unemployment opportunities for the youths and growing deterioration of law and order situation. “The drug dealers are taking advantage of the nexus between a section of police and government. A section of police is found to be very inactive in dealing with the drug smugglers and stopping drug menace among the youths,” he said.
He said, “The growing drug menace is one of the projects of the BJP government, where the youths are being pushed towards drug addiction to pave a way for some minor section of youths to earn big.”
Citing the mysterious death of a class 9 student Dipashree Das, the CPI-M leader held the BJP leader responsible for it and questioned the role of police to allege that the law and order situation is deteriorating in the state, where the police is playing an inactive role.
“Just because a BJP and RSS leader is involved with the mysterious death of Dipashree Das, police refrained from getting him detained in the case. Many such incidents of crime against women are happening across the state, where the ruling party leaders are found to be involved and are being excused from punishment,” he alleged.
Choudhury also questioned the government’s ‘Prati Ghare Susashan’ programme and said, “Like what they did before the 2023 assembly election, this government is again on a move to resume its Prati Ghare Susashan programme in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha election, which is nothing but to advertise the image of Prime Minister, his ministers and BJP leaders.”
“There is a need to work for the welfare of the state moving in line with the pre-poll promises made before the last assembly election rather than intensifying their Susashan campaign. Because, the government has brought a disaster to the economic condition of the state, where the socio-economic status of the people, especially the poor is deteriorating,” he opined.
He however said that the party's state committee meeting, which ended recently, has decided to intensify the party’s campaign against the government across the state starting from November 15 to continue it for a month. He said that the CPI-M and the Left bodies will organise a massive campaign to highlight the government’s failure in every sector.
