Bangladesh resumes Visa service from Agartala after 2 months of suspension

Agartala, Feb 05: Nearly two months after operations were suspended following a security breach, the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala resumed visa and consular services from Wednesday.
The Visa services was suspended early December, citing a “security situation” that emerged after its premises were breached by a group of people protesting against the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in Dhaka.
The notice issued by the First Secretary of the Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner’s office at Agartala Md Al Amin stated that all visa and consular services of the Bangladesh Asst High Commission shall resume on February 5. Following this the service resumed on Wednesday.
The resumption of Visa service has brought a relief for many enterprises and travellers who depend on these services for cross-border mobility. Many visa seekers, who visited the commission office on Wednesday expressed their joy over the resumption of service and stated that this would ease them to cross the border and reach the neighboring country of Bangladesh, for which they have been waiting for long.
