Agartala, July 26: A large section of sacked 10319 graduate and undergraduate teachers on Friday held a meeting here at Agartala Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan over the separate petitions filed with the Supreme Court of India regarding retention of their service. The meeting was organised by the United Forum of Teachers. 

One of the sacked teachers of 10319, Shantunu Bhattacjarjee, who attended the meeting, said that the meeting mainly focused on exchanging ideas and views and to broadly discuss the legal aspects of their petitions filed with the Supreme Court.

He said that two separate writ petitions were filed with the Supreme Court regarding the retention of the service of the sacked graduate teachers and another of under graduate teachers, following which the Supreme Court has granted the petition of the graduate teacher. He said that the 10319 teachers of the state of Tripura were illegally and unconstitutionally sacked from their service by the government.

He further informed that following the RTI filed in the recent past, the employees code, beneficiary code and others of the sacked teachers are found to be still active and accordingly salaries of those employees are being granted. He sought the intervention of the government for the retention of their service.  

He however hoped that the Supreme Court would render justice to the sacked teachers. Senior advocate Amrit Lal Saha was present in the meeting.
