Agartala Oct 17: An annual celebration to showcase the traditional Hojagiri Dance and rich cultural heritage of the Reang and Bru community, the 32nd State-Level Hojagiri festival will commence from October 18 at the Ramguna CP High School ground in Machmara, Unakoti Tripura.
The 2-day long festival organized by the Bru Socio-cultural Organization in collaboration with various departments of the state government, will be inaugurated by State Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy.
Apart from the Sports Minister, Minister of Industry and Commerce, Santana Chakma, Minister for ARDD Sudhangshu Das, Cooperative Minister Shukla Charan Noatia will also remain present as Chief Guests on the occasion.
Besides, MLAs Bhagaban Chandra Das, Pramod Reang, Philip Kumar Reang, Unakoti Zilla Parishad Chairman Amalendu Das, Pecharthal BAC Chairman Sajal Chakma, Kumarghat BAC Chairman Tapanjoy Reang, Unakoti DM Dilip Kumar Chakma, SP Kanta Jahangir among others will also remain present at the program.
State president of Bru Socio-Cultural Organization Shanti Rai Reang informed that the 2- day long festival will feature a variety of cultural performances including Hojagiri dance, Dhamail dance, Shiver Hajan, Bihu, Buji, Mamita dance and Cherao dance forms, showcasing the state’s diverse cultural traditions.
Also, exhibition halls from various departments will be open, along with stalls from self-help groups and traditional stalls displaying the costumes and rituals of the Reang community and others.
Besides, a seminar on the socio-cultural development of the Reang people will be held on October 19, the closing day of the festival.
