Agartala, Oct 17: Launching a scathing attack on the ruling BJP over the ‘deteriorated’ law and order situation in the state of Tripura, the Leader of Opposition Jitendra Choudhury on Thursday claimed that a faction of BJP leaders are trying to dethrone Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.

Talking to the reporters on Thursday, the LoP said, “We are not opposing your functioning as Chief Minister, rather we want you to work throughout your tenure. But, your party workers are trying to dethrone you.”

“Your dream of building terror and crime-free Tripura will not come to a reality until you take a control over your own party workers, who are trying to dethrone you by unleashing crimes and terror tactics across the state,” Choudhury told reporters.

Choudhury was making his statement on Thursday following the two recent incidents – a murder in Agartala and a custodial death in South Tripura’s Sabroom mainly. Reacting sharply to the incidents, Choudhury alleged that the law and order situation has totally collapsed in the state, where crime against women, murder and killing like incidents are increasing at an alarming rate.

“People’s struggle in Tripura under the misrule of BJP-IPFT-Motha is like a never ending episode,” he alleged, adding that it’s a high time that the Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha should intervene on this and tackle the odd situation prevailing in the state. He said, “The government should give a free hand to the police to investigate incidents and render justice to the victims and family members.”
