2,399 B'desh nationals living illegally in India

New Delhi, Jul 26: As many as 2,399 Bangladeshi nationals were intercepted and found using fraudulently obtained Indian documents in the last five years, the Lok Sabha was informed Tuesday.
Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said in a written reply that the central government has issued instructions to state governments and Union Territories for taking appropriate prompt steps for identification of illegal migrants.
He said that states and UTs have also been asked to restrict illegal migrants to specified locations as per provisions of law, capture their biographic and biometric particulars, cancel fake Indian documents and initiate legal proceedings including deportation proceedings.
Rai said states and UTs have also been advised to share the particulars of those illegal migrants who have wrongfully obtained Aadhaar cards for appropriate legal action.
They have further been advised to cancel any identification documents obtained fraudulently by illegal migrants, like voter card, driving licence, ration card etc, he said.
