BJP claims of violence-free poll; refutes poll manipulation allegations, cites opposition's declining influence

Agartala, April 26: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday claimed of violence-free election held in the two parliamentary constituencies of East and West.
Addressing a press conference here in the party headquarter at Agartala on Friday evening, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee said, “This time like the previous 2023 assembly election, no violence was reported before, during and after the poll across the state.”
“Tripura has once again demonstrated its commitment of conducting free, fair, and peaceful elections,” he said, adding that there has been a larger participation of voters on Friday in East Tripura Parliamentary Constituency, who came out of their house amid the scorching heat of the sun to cast their vote.
Responding to the queries regarding vote boycott by over 1000 villagers at Gandacherra, the BJP state president said, “Soon after receiving the information we took the matter with the concerned ARO and Returning Officer. But, if some people have tried to create an odd atmosphere by boycotting the election, where at least 80% voting turnout was recorded, the matter will be enquired in detail in the later course of time.”
