4 Artists from Tripura to get prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademy Awards, CM greets

Agartala, Nov 26: Four artists from Tripura have been nominated for prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademy awards in various categories, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said on Saturday.
Speaking to the media, he said, Tarubala Debbarma has been nominated for Sangeet Natak Academy Puraskar- 2020 in the field of Folk Music and Dance while Tapasi Debbarma and Litan Das have been nominated for Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar- 2020 & 2021 in the fields of Folk Music and Puppet Making respectively.
Besides, Gopal Chandra Biswas has been nominated for Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Award (Tabla), he said.
The Chief Minister on behalf of the state government and the pradesh BJP congratulated all the recipients of these prestigious awards.
According to PIB inputs, the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, given to artists below the age of 40 years, was introduced with the objective of identifying and encouraging outstanding young talents in diverse fields of performing arts and giving them national recognition early in their life, so that they may work with greater commitment and dedication in their chosen fields.
The Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Award carries a purse money of Rs. 1,00,000 besides Tamrapatra and Angavastram. The Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards will be conferred by the President of India in a special investiture ceremony.
