Belonia, Sept 21: Four youths allegedly attempted to molest a 12-year-old girl near Belonia Morapukur on Saturday afternoon. The accused, reportedly outsiders working in the area, have been allegedly harassing local girls for a long time.

The victim was bathing in the pond when one of the accused, Idul Sheikh, grabbed her hand. Local residents intervened, catching three of the accused - Idul Sheikh, Bablu Sheikh, and Rustam Sheikh, however Manir Hossain managed to escape. Belonia Police arrived at the scene and took the three accused into custody.

The accused, from Kolkata and Murshidabad, were living in a rented house in Belonia. Locals alleged they frequently harassed and molested girls, making it difficult for them to leave their homes or bathe in the pond.
