60 years of Customs Act celebrated in capital city

Agartala Dec 06: Celebrations of 60 years of the Customs Act, 1962 was held by the Customs Agartala Division here on Tuesday.
A rally was organized on the theme “Connecting people on role and challenges of Customs” to mark the occasion that started from old Customs Office in Bordowali and travelled to Central Revenue Building, Mantri Bari Road Extension in the capital city.
Speaking on the occasion, Apuday Guha, Assistant Commissioner of Customs highlighted the initiatives taken by the department for ease of doing business and trade facilitation in line with the guidelines of WTO (World Trade Organization).
He expressed confidence that with concerted efforts of the department, state would further improve its position in trade facilitations.
Guha further spoke about the role of Customs in securing the international borders.
He said, “The Indian Customs has risen to the challenge of effectively manning land, sea and air economic frontiers of the country and state with the objective of furthering legitimate trade across borders and deterring economic offenders”.
The Customs Agartala Division also organized felicitation program for the retired employees of the department and members of Tripura Pensioners Association to commemorate 60 years completion of Customs Act.
