689 Divyangjan provided Aids and Assistive Devices; Pratima announces 4 new DDRC in Tripura

Agartala Jan 06: MoS Pratima Bhowmik on Friday inaugurated the “Samajik Adhikarita Shivir” at Agartala Town Hall where she distributed different kind of aids and assistive devices to the divyangjans under ADIP scheme of Govt. of India.
In a major developmental note, the Union Minister of State further announced opening of four new DDRC’s in the state for the betterment of the divyangjans.
Speaking at the occasion, MoS Pratima Bhowmik said, “Since 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been working for the upliftment of Divyangjans across the country in a bid to ensure that they do not feel left out from the society”.
“Being differently abled in various ways, the state government with the help of central government has provided a lot of support to physically challenged persons including social allowances”, she added.
Pratima further said, “But the biggest gift given by Narendra Modi ji is the name ‘Divyang’. It has worked in changing the approach of the whole world towards Divyangs. Earlier, with the word handicap, there was a sense of neglect and insult.”
The items distributed in the program include 33 Motorized Tri Cycles, 52 Tri Cycles, 180 Folding Wheelchairs, 7 CP Chairs, 368 Baishakhis, 72 Walking Sticks, 62 Smart Cane, 340 hearing aid and other materials.
A total of 689 Divyangjans from west Tripura district were provided goods worth Rs 59 lakh rupees.
