Agartala, Mar 31: The zero point in Agartala which falls between Kaman Chowmuhani and Old Motor stand has been inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha with a new look on Friday.
He also unveiled a statue of Maharaja Bir Bikram, the architect of modern Tripura, at the zero point and as a token of respect the place has been named as Bir Bikram Chowmuhani.
After taking charge as the Chief Minister in the first term, Dr. Saha had announced that the zero point would be brought back in its glory. As the Chief Minister fulfilled his promise, the city has been able to get the zero milestone along with the statue.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister launched several other projects of Agartala Smart City Limited and Agartala Municipal Corporation.
The projects included flood drainage pump house at M.G. market and thematic bus shelters at U.K. Academy, Nandannagar and IGM Chowmuhani.
Later in a social media post, he commented, "Infrastructure development has always been a top priority of our government. We are committed to deliver best citizen services."
Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister said, the present state government believes in works, not in dialogues. He said, the government wants to reach out to the people through development activities.
He said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi always shows respect to the Janajati people and the state government has also been working in the same. He cited renaming of zero point after Maharaja Bir Bikram as an example.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, CEO of Agartala Smart City Limited Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav and other dignitaries were present in the inaugural ceremony held at Grandiose Chowmuhani in Agartala.
