Agartala May 15: In a press conference held on Wednesday, the Amra Bangali State Committee secretary, Gouranga Rudra Pal, raised serious concerns about the treatment of Bengali families during the BJP government’s tenure.
Pal highlighted the plight of 217 Bengali families from 51 villages in Kanchanpur sub-division who have sought refuge in the forested area of Pekucherra village in Panisagar.
These families, including children and elderly members, have been left without food and water for the past five days.
“Leave food, the administration has not bothered to make drinking water arrangements for the people who are spending days in uncertainty under the open sky despite being Tripura citizens”, alleged Amra Bangali state secretary.
He added, “The administration’s inaction and coercion tactics have further exacerbated the situation. While the refugee Bengali families face eviction threats, tribal families residing nearby remain unaffected”.
The Amra Bangali party demanded that alternative arrangements be made for the families in Pekucherra and that they receive essential supplies and housing support.
Additionally, the organization also called for compensation and resettlement for Bengali families affected by extremist attacks.
They emphasized the need for a judicial inquiry into the June, 80 massacre and advocate for forest rights and land patta’s for all Bengali families.
