Another cancer hospital to come up in Tripura, land allotted: CM

Agartala, Feb 04: Tripura cabinet allotted land for setting up another Cancer hospital in the state, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced on Sunday.
He said, the council of ministers in its sitting on Saturday cleared the proposal for allotment of 15 acres of land to Dr R Ravi Kannan, Director of Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (CCHRC) at free of cost for the proposed Cancer Hospital in North Tripura district.
The Cancer hospital would largely benefit the people of North Tripura and Unakoti districts as well as strengthen the state’s cancer treatment service.
The Chief Minister was addressing the World Cancer Day programme organized at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Centre in Agartala.
He said, the state’s cancer hospital is best in the northeast region and the present government is sincerely working towards developing the services with the introduction of modern equipment.
The Chief Minister said, awareness is the key to prevent cancer. This year, the theme of the World Cancer Day observance Day is “close the care gap”.
Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, National Health Mission, Tripura chapter director D.K. Chakma, Director of Health Services Dr. Supriya Mallik and others were present.
A good number of Cancer survivors were felicitated in the event. Besides, a few volunteers, who help the cancer patients in availing treatment, were also felicitated by the Chief Minister.
