Agartala Jan 15: Taking strict action against sound pollution in various areas of the city, police personnel of New Capital Complex Police Station seized six sound boxes from seven different locations on Tuesday late night.
NCC Police Station OC Sushanta Deb who led the operation provided the details of the seizure to the reporters on Wednesday.
He said, “Although it is festive season, we have been receiving several complaints from locals who were disturbed by the high volume till late hours of night. Despite issuing repeated warnings, the warnings went unheeded. Taking decisive measures, we seized a total of 6 sound boxes from seven locations including Chanmari, Bhubanban, Madhya Bhubanban, Barjala”.
“Apart from these, 11 amplifiers and 3 sound mixers were also seized during the operation that have a market value of approximately Rs 6 lakh. We have also sent cases to the Court against 7 owners”, he added.
Emphasizing the importance of adhering to noise regulations, OC Sushanta Deb informed that such operations will continue in the coming days.
Notably, as per a notification issued by the State Pollution Control Board, and Tripura High Court, playing DJ or sound boxes is strictly prohibited in the city area after 10 in the night.
