Agartala Nov 19: The 20-day long statewide ‘Sanhati Padyatra’ launched on the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Late Indira Gandhi covered various key areas of the state, gathering huge positive response from the people belonging to different sections of the society, said TPCC president Asish Kumar Saha.
Noting that the Padyatra, aimed at promoting communal harmony and peace across Tripura will end with a march, organized at all organizational levels of the party, marking the 105th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on Tuesday, Tripura Pradesh Congress president Asish Kumar Saha said, “The main goal of the Sanhati Yatra was to spread love, peace and unity among the people and we accomplished that goal, very well”.
On Tuesday, Tripura Pradesh Congress celebrated the birth anniversary of former PM and Congress Stalwart Indira Gandhi with due dignity across the state while the prime program was held at TPCC headquarters, Agartala.
“Today marks the 105th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Indira Gandhi, and the occasion is being celebrated with due dignity at Congress Bhavan and other parts of the state. The event honours the legacy of India's first and only female Prime Minister, who played a pivotal role in shaping the nation's history”, said Saha.
He added, “Indira Gandhi's contributions to India's political landscape and her efforts in promoting social and economic development is worth remembering”.
The gathering at Congress Bhavan included party MLAs, presidents of frontal organizations, senior leaders, members, and supporters who came together to pay tribute to her remarkable leadership and vision.
Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman said, “The celebration serves as a reminder of Indira Gandhi's enduring impact on the country and her unwavering commitment to the progress and welfare of the Indian people. Her legacy continues to inspire generations, and today's event reflects the deep respect and admiration she commands”.
He also noted the remarkable response received towards ‘Sanhati Yatra’ which ended on this day.
“Congress is committed to counter the divisive politics of the BJP-led government. Our yatra is a step towards resisting any attempts to disrupt peace and harmony in Tripura”, he said.
Later in the day, a mass rally was held on behalf of the Sadar Congress Committee in the state capital.
