Agartala Nov 07: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is known to have played a major role during 2018 assembly elections in Tripura, reached the state on Monday on a crucial one-day visit.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha along with others received Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma with a warm reception at the MBB Airport, Agartala.
Being accorded a grand reception at the state BJP headquarters, the Assam Chief Minister launched “Booth Vijay Abhiyan” at the Rabindra Satavarshiki Bhavan.
Addressing the party leaderships and karyakarta of different levels, Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “BJP has made history in the 2018 assembly polls in Tripura by ending the 25 years long misrule of the CPI-M”.
He said, it is a matter of pride that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the politics of casteism, familialism, dynasty and communalism in the country has been brought to an end and the politics of development has become popular.
The Assam Chief Minister said, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and under the dynamic leadership of Tripura Chief Minister, the state has reached new dimensions in development and progress.
Hoping a massive victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the upcoming 2023 assembly polls, Himanta Biswa Sarma urged upon all the party leadership’s and karyakartas of all the “Shakti Kendra” across the state to gear up poll campaigning.
This visit of Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also the convenor of Northeast Democratic Alliance, holds immense significance.
The visit of Sharma to Tripura that is scheduled to go for polls next year is seen as an attempt by the BJP to boost the morale of the party karyakartas and chalk out poll strategies through various organizational meetings.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, MoS Pratima Bhowmik, former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee and others remained present on the occasion.
Sarma is likely to visit Tripureshwari temple in Udaipur before returning back to Assam.
