Eyeing on the 2023 assembly elections, BJP national general secretary (org) B.L. Santosh, who arrived in Agartala on Tuesday on a two-day visit, held important organizational meetings.
In the meetings, the central leader held threadbare discussions on the roadmap for 2023 assembly elections, preparations for ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and other organizational matters, according to party sources.
Soon after arriving in the city, he chaired the first meeting with BJP state office bearers at party’s headquarters in presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, BJP state prabhari Vinod Sonkar, Union Minister of State Pratima Bhowmik and state general secretary (org) for Assam and Tripura units- Phanindranath Sharma.
The BJP central leader then held meetings with all the ministers, MLAs and other party leaders including Morcha and district presidents. Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb also joined the meeting and he was seen sitting on the dais.
After attending the meeting, the Chief Minister said, various organizational matters and preparations for 2023 polls were discussed.
The Union Minister of State said that the discussions were all about the organization. She hinted that the information that circulated on social media regarding suspension of Biplab Kumar Deb was false.
Speaking on the same issue, Education minister Ratanlal Nath said, “people are aware and it is not possible to misguide the people by circulating false news.”
The former Chief Minister said the visit of B.L. Santosh would boost the organization. at all levels-- from Prishta Pramukhs to State Office Bearers.
He also said, the BJP government already fulfilled 99 per cent of the promises made in the vision document and the rest of the works would be completed before Durga Puja.
"I am confident the people of Tripura will give us full support like 2018 based on their experience on the delivery of governance," Deb told the media.
Meanwhile, B.L. Santosh is scheduled to hold another round of important meetings with the party leaders. There are indications that the new BJP state president would be finalized in the meeting.
Earlier, Santosh was welcomed by the Union Minister of State and BJP state prabhari along with party’s state general secretaries- Tinku Roy, Kishore Barman and Papia Dutta at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Agartala.
The Chief Minister then met and welcomed the BJP national general secretary at the State Guest House.
Meanwhile, with an aim to make the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign successful in the state, the Mahila Morcha karyakartas set up a stall with tricolors.
