Udaipur, Feb 26: A police constable was arrested in connection with the Udaipur bank scam on Tuesday night.

The constable- Jayanta Saha was associated with Cyber Cell of R.K. Pur police station. He was produced before the court on Wednesday. 

It was the second arrest made by police in the alleged Rs. 82 lakh fixed-deposit scam of HDFC Bank, Udaipur branch. Earlier, the bank’s deputy manager Abhishek Sarkar was arrested by police.

Four cases were filed in connection with the incident—three complaints were from Niyati Sarkar, Suniti Dutta Sen and Lopamudra Homroy and the other was from the bank. SDPO Udaipur Nirman Das is investigating the case.

All the three customers complained of unauthorized withdrawal of their fixed deposits from the bank before maturity.

According to reports coming from various sources, the deputy bank manager had deposited the misappropriated money to several bank accounts.
