Barkrid: Tripura CM greets netizens

Agartala Jun 28: Bakrid conveys the message of sacrifice, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha as he greeted the people on the occasion.
Extending his sincere greetings to the people of the state including those belonging to the Muslim community, the chief minister said, “Eid-ul-Joha (Bakrid) is a festival of sacrifice, sacrifice and self-purification. Our mutual harmony is built through self-purification, moderation and sacrifice”.
“May this message of the festival spread in the course of overall development of the state. I wish the people of the state good health and a good life”, he added.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the Gedu Miya Masjid in Chittaranjan area of the capital city was lit up owing to the celebrations.
Speaking to the reporters, the authorities of the masjid said, “Preparations are going on in full swing centering the much important festival”.
“Bakrid is one of the two most prominent festivals celebrated by the people belonging to Muslim community. As per Islamic calendar, Dhul Hijjah is the 12th and the last month and most of the Muslim people perform Hajj during this month. Eid Al Adha occurs on the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah and people celebrate this with great joy and festivity”, he said.
The authorities further informed that the prayers or Namaaz as they call, will be offered at 8.00am in the morning of Thursday at Gedu Miya Masjid.
