Gandacherra, Aug 18: In addition to government assistance, some private organizations continue to provide support to victims of the Gandacherra incident.
On Sunday, the Bangali Oikyabadho Samaj of Chailengta, Longtharai Valley sub-division, donated Rs. 2,05,000 in cash to the affected families. A delegation from the organization visited the affected areas of Gandacherra.
The delegation visited the temporary refugee camp at Gandacherra Higher Secondary School, where 165 displaced families have taken shelter. The representatives of the organization reassured the victims, stating, "We are your brothers and relatives. Don’t be afraid; we are always with you."
Efforts to support the victims are going on, with various organizations stepping in daily. Additionally, the state government has already provided Rs. 95,000 in assistance to each affected family, and disbursement of an additional Rs. 2,00,000 per family is underway.
The unrest in Gandacherra sub-division began on July 12 following the death of a young man during an altercation at Ananda Mela. That night, a group of miscreants looted, vandalized, and set fire to homes in several villages. They also looted and burned down shops in multiple markets, creating a tense situation in the area.
However, the situation was brought under control due to the administration's strict intervention.
