Agartala, Sept 18: Tripura Pradesh Congress president Ashis Kumar Saha lodged a complaint against four BJP leaders including a union minister for their statement/ imputation on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi while the Congress workers staged a protest in the city against the same issue.
The TPCC president lodged the complaint at West Agartala police station against union minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad, ex- BJP MLA Tarvinder Singh and Uttar Pradesh Minister Raghuraj Singh.
According to Saha, Gaikwad made a statement/ imputation on 16.09.2024 that he would pay Rs. 11 lakh to whoever will be able to cut the tongue of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, leader of the house in Lok Sabha. Saha mentioned that the imputation had severely defamed Rahul Gandhi and the Indian National Congress.
Saha also alleged that the union minister- Ravneet Singh Bittu also made a statement/imputation calling Rahul Gandhi an "extremist" and also stated that Rahul Gandhi is not an Indian and NO.1 enemy of India.
He stated in the complaint, similar allegations were also made by Tarvinder Singh, Ex- BJP MLA, Delhi and Raghuraj Singh, Uttar Pradesh Minister.
Hurt by such statements, the TPCC president lodged the complaint against the four persons seeking proper investigation and punishment against them.
In the meantime, the Congress workers staged a protest in Agartala on Wednesday demonstrating against the leaders of BJP and their allies over reported threats made against the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress leaders and party members during the protest demonstration raised slogans and burned effigies of the leaders of BJP and its allies followed by the lodging of the formal police complaint at the West Agartala police station by Congress state president.
