Bengali Mahila Samaj raises voice against atrocities on women

Agartala Oct 29: Raising 5-point demands in relation to rising crime against women in state, Bangali Mahila Samaj, Tripura state unit organized protest here on Saturday.
With at least 4 rape cases reported in Tripura in past 7 days, the situation in Tripura is gradually turning volatile as the entire opposition has united against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in protest against the increasing incidents of crimes against women and deteriorating law and order in the state.
Demanding immediate arrest of all the culprits involved in the rape cases on minor girls across Tripura, Bangali Mahila Samaj took to streets.
Talking to the reporters, Simani Deb, secretary Bangali Mahila Samaj, Tripura Unit said, “In the month of festivities where women in the form of Devi or goddess is worshipped in various forms, miscreants are raping women in Tripura”.
“Ruling party leaders and associates are involved in such heinous crimes against women but the state government and police are playing the role of mute spectators”, said Deb.
The demands raised by Amra Bangali Samaj includes, immediate arrest of all rapists and exemplary punishment after trial in Fast Track Court, to stop pressure on police by political forces in connection with the arrest of culprits, check in selling of drugs and other narcotic items across the state and others.
