Teliamura, Nov 27: The Tribal Welfare Minister, Bikas Debbarma conducted an on-ground inspection of the on-going power expansion work in the Mungiakami RD Block on Wednesday. The block, home to 14 ADC villages, has faced persistent electricity shortages, causing hardship for locals, particularly in hilly tribal areas such as North and South Maharani and Atharamura Hills.
Debbarma, along with local officials, visited several areas, including Champlai, to assess the progress of the on-going electric service station project. Debbarma examined challenges in the expansion of power lines, which often get disrupted during storms or monsoons when tree branches fall on the wires, leading to outages. These outages have, in turn, caused water shortages as the pump stations rely on electricity to operate.
After discussions with the district magistrate and other officials, Debbarma ensured that the obstacles in the power line expansion would be swiftly addressed. Debbarma assured the public that by December, a separate electric service station would be operational, providing consistent electricity to all regions of Mungiakami.
