Agartala, April 17: The opposition CPI(M) state secretary and leader of opposition Jitendra Chaudhury on Wednesday counter attacked the BJP candidate for West Tripura Parliamentary seat Biplab Kumar Deb over his remark – ‘CPI(M) poll manifesto is to compromise with national security’ and said that Deb’s observation on CPI(M)’s poll manifesto is ‘misinterpretation’ and to ‘mislead’ the people of the state.
Deb on Tuesday last launched a scathing attack on the CPIM, alleging that the CPI(M)’s poll manifesto advocated the elimination of nuclear and other weapons and removal of all military bases in the country.
Chaudhury ruled out Deb’s allegation on Wednesday morning and said, “Deb’s observation on our poll manifesto is to misinterpret and mislead the people of the state. The CPI(M) in its poll manifesto has never mentioned withdrawal of army bases from the country.”
Referring to Deb’s remark – ‘elimination of nuclear and other weapons’, Chaudhury opined, “In view of the slogan of ensuing world peace, we said that there is a need to build nuclear-weapons-free world and it does not mean elimination of nuclear and other weapons from our country.”
Chaudhury said, “Biplab Kumar Deb’s observation and remark is an insult to our military forces and to undermine the country’s defense system.
Addressing a press conference here at Agartala party office Chaudhury continued slamming BJP candidate Biplab Kumar Deb and alleged that the BJP, which is facing uncertainty in winning election has decided to bring back Biplab Kumar Deb to operate ‘bike bahini’ ahead of the Lok Sabha election.
“Facing uncertainty in winning in both the Lok Sabha seats in Tripura, the BJP has decided to bring back Biplab Kumar Deb so that he can re-operate his ‘bike bahinis’ in the state, which people had witnessed during his rule in the state,” he alleged.
He said, “Biplab Kumar Deb, who is made the BJP candidate for West seat was removed from Chief Minister’s post due to the political violence and drug menace among the youths, which took its height during his tenure and he is again brought back in Tripura to operate his Bike Bahinis”
