BJP-TMP clash leaves 7 injured in Tripura

Ambassa, Apr 12: Violent clash between the supporters of BJP and TIPRA Motha Party (TMP) over the controlling functions of the Panbua Village Committee left seven activists of both parties injured. The clash broke out at Panbua village under Salema police station in Dhalai district of Tripura on Wednesday.
Activists of the TMP, following a discussion among them, formed a committee to manage the functions of the Panbua Village Committee under the Salema Block and assembled at the Village Committee office today.
Soon, a group of BJP workers also reach the Village Committee office premises. Arguments started between the workers of both parties.
The TMP activists argued that the Village Committee was run by the BJP, so long, without any election and now TMP will run the show. The altercation continued and took a turn for the worse as supporters of parties became violent and attacked each other with sticks. Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
In the violent clash, four TMP and three BJP supporters – total seven persons - were injured and all were rushed to the Kulai District Hospital. To avert escalation of tension, a large posse of the TSR personnel were deputed in the area.
