B’deshi smuggler shot dead by BSF

Boxanagar, Feb 28: A Bangladeshi smuggler died as BSF opened fire near India- Bangladesh border at Putiya village under Kalamchaura police station in Sepahijala district on Friday evening.
The BSF reportedly opened fire after the smugglers pelted stones during an attempt to smuggle sugar.
One of the smugglers- Alamin, resident of Putiya village Comilla district in Bangladesh, received bullet injuries in the incident. He was taken to Bishalgarh sub-divisional hospital, where the attending medical officer declared him dead.
An officer from Kalamchaura police station rushed to the hospital and confirmed the death.
It is expected that the body would be handed over after a BSF-BGB flag meeting on Saturday.
