CEO inspects postal ballot voting facilitation centre; around 12000 postal ballots issued for officials in election duty

Agartala, April 16: The Chief Electoral Officer of the State Election Commission Puneet Agarwal accompanied by the Returning Officer (RO) of West Parliamentary constituency Dr Vishal Kumar on Tuesday inspected the postal ballot voting facilitation Centre here at Agartala Shishu Bihar H.S. School.
During the inspection the CEO told reporters that around 12000 postal ballots were issued to the government officials inducted in election duty to cast their vote, which began from April 15 and will continue till April 17.
“The TSR jawans who are on duty in other states including Delhi and Chhattisgarh have completed casting their vote as service voters through the postal ballots, issued to them earlier. The postal ballots will reach the state by post,” he added.
On the other hand, the CEO informed that goods including liquor and mostly drugs worth around Rs 25 crore were seized so far. Area domination by the security forces is presently underway in both the parliamentary seats in Tripura, while security forces are on high alert in all the Naka points, he told reporters.
He further informed that the polling parties accompanied by the security forces will start moving to their respective polling stations on April 18 next, while the voting will begin from morning on April 19 next in the West Tripura parliamentary seat.
