Agartala, Dec 09: The opposition CPI(M) MLA Sudip Sarkar of Barjala assembly constituency and MLA Nayan Sarkar of Bamutia assembly constituency on Monday paid a visit to Ward No. 2 of Agartala Municipal Corporation and interacted with the residents to check developmental works.

During the visit, the residents said that they are being deprived of drinking water and power supply in their ward. The residents later sought the intervention of the MLAs and demanded to ensure drinking water supply.

Responding to the complaint of the residents, the MLAs assured them of providing pillars for the electric supply from the MLA fund. The MLAs later slammed the ruling BJP for depriving the villagers from drinking water supply.

They said that the government has been beating the drums claiming drinking water supply to every household under Jal Jeevan Mission, but in reality the picture is different, where many households like that of Ward No. 2 are left and they are yet to get drinking water supply connection.

They however assured the residents of Ward No. 2 of taking the matter with the concerned officials to ensure drinking water supply connection.
