Agartala, Oct 26: CPI-M state secretary Jitendra Choudhuri Wednesday expressed his concern over the rise of crime in the state and accused the ruling BJP Party. He alleged, “In addition to the deterioration of law and order situation in the state of Tripura under the rule of BJP government, crime against women is gradually growing in the state especially under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.”
Citing the incident of gang rape incident at Kumarghat under Unokoti district on October 19, the CPI-M leader castigated the state labour minister for his son’s alleged involvement in the incident. He said, “The minor girl was gang-raped by a group of youths led by the minister’s son in an apartment owned by the minister himself.”
“I have come to know from a very reliable source that presently the minister’s son is residing in the government quarter of his father here in Agartala,” he alleged.
He however appealed to the police to immediately conduct a search in operation in the government quarter of the minister and arrest his son for his alleged involvement into the gang rape incident. Two persons were already arrested a day after the incident following the registration of an FIR.
“At a time when the people were concerned of the incident of Kailasahar, another such incident took place on Tuesday at Kalyanpur in Teliamura sub-division, where a minor was gang raped by a group of youths belonging to the ruling party cadres,” he further alleged.
He continued slamming the ruling BJP party and alleged, “People of this state are being frustrated with the misrule of this BJP government, where the incidents like murder and crime against women are gradually growing in the state.”
