Agartala Feb 05: Negligence of any sort will not be entertained and if found, we will change the Agency and handover the work to another responsible party, said Mayor Dipak Majumder.
Following immense delay in construction work of MB Tilla market by the concerned agency, AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder warned the authorities for timely completion of work.
Monday, the Mayor accompanied by Corporator Abhijit Mallik, AMC Officials, MB Tilla market committee members among others visited the under-construction site of a multi-storied building of MB Tilla market in AD Nagar area.
After a thorough inspection of the work, the Mayor said, “We received specific complaints of delay in work and accordingly during today’s visit, we too found the same”.
“In the month of January 2023, the chief minister Dr Manik Saha laid the foundation stone of this multi-storied market in MB Tilla. But after one year, the construction work is not up to the mark and slow”, he said.
The Mayor directed the concerned authorities of the construction agency to expedite the work and hand over the project by Durga Puja 2024.
the chief of the construction agency Dipankar Majumder while speaking to the reporters said, “The delay in work is due to difficulties that we are facing in transportation of the construction materials from the stock in Amtali Bypass area and here too because of lack of space we have to finish work at one side and then start working on the other end”.
Meanwhile, on being asked about the traffic congestion in the market road, the Mayor said, “In coming days we will conduct an eviction drive and make sure that both sides of the road are free from illegal encroachment because of which such traffic congestion and accidents are reported. The small businessmen who sit on the side of the roads will be asked to get a space inside the market and not on the side of the roads”.
