Agartala Nov 24: Teachers Eligibility TET- qualified job aspirants on Sunday staged protest in front of the chief minister’s residence demanding an immediate recruitment drive for 361 qualified aspirants who qualified in the year Dec, 2022.
Through the day’s demonstration, the protesters sought clarification regarding clouds of uncertainty over their future.
Speaking on the issue, one of the job aspirants said, “We qualified TET exams in the year 2022, but since then no recruitment drive has been initiated by the state education department. On several occasions, the ministers and other authorities used to comment on the dearth of qualified people and a huge number of vacant posts. But we are sitting jobless even after having the necessary qualifications and no recruitment drive is being initiated for us”.
Talking about their conversation with the concerned authorities of the State Education Department, including the Director on previous occasions, the protestors said, “The Education Director showed the will to recruit all of us, but he mentioned that he has to be given directions from the chief minister”.
The aspiring candidates further pointed out the issues of large number of vacant posts and inadequate number of teachers in state government schools.
They demanded the chief minister, who also holds the education portfolio, to immediately fill up the gap and recruit qualified teachers for better teaching and learning process in state government schools at the earliest.
Meanwhile, a large police and TSR force acted on the scene to disperse the protesters.
