Agartala Oct 13: Without development of the power sector, development of agriculture and industrial sector of the state cannot be done, said Minister for Power Ratan Lal Nath as he inaugurated the 33 KV power substation at Lembucherra on Friday.
Emphasising on the point that the state government has taken various steps to develop the power sector of the state, the power minister said, “Both industrial and agricultural development of a state relies upon electricity. And therefore, the state government is working to strengthen the power sector”.
“The 33 KV power substation and two- storey control room built at a cost of Rs 6.16 crore will benefit around 4000 families across Kamalghat, Jubatara, Lembuchhera, Kalapania, Nepalitila, ICAR, Krishi Mahavidyalaya, Bhagaban Chowmani and other area”, he said.
Nath added that prior to the establishment of the BJP government in Tripura, there were a total of 38 substations of 33 KV in the state. 23 more substations have been constructed in the past five years.
The minister claimed that with the setting up of more 28 substations across the state in the coming days, quality of electricity service will improve further.
Nath said, “By 2030, the state has set a target of generating 500 megawatts of electricity with the help of solar energy. This initiative has been taken across the country to utilize solar energy when the supply of underground natural gas and coal is exhausted in the coming days”.
Tripura Power Transmission Limited GM Ranjan Debbarma delivered the welcome address on the occasion.
Former MLA Krishnadhan Das, Bamutia Panchayat Samiti Chairman Sheela Pas Sen, Vice Chairman Pooja Malakar, Lembuchhera BAC Chairman Ranbir Debbarma, Electricity Department Secretary Abhishek Singh, TSECL Managing Director Debashis Sarkar, among others were present on the occasion.
