Agartala Oct 15: Quitting from the post of IPFT MLA, Dhananjoy Tripura officially joined Pradyut Kishore Dev Varman led TIPRA Motha on Saturday.
The former legislator Dhananjoy Tripura joined the Tipra Motha amid a press conference chaired by Pradyut Kishore Dev Varman on Saturday evening.
Declaring the joining of Dhananjoy Tripura to the party, Pradyut said, “No member from any political party should join Tipra Motha intending to get an MLA seat in the upcoming assembly polls, rather it should come forward for DOPHA (Community)”.
Being questioned by the reporters on alliance with the BJP, Pradyut said that a written promise should be given from the Home Ministry on Greater Tipra Land.
“BJP should not end up with a written promise like 2018’s High Power Committee that turned out to be useless because a constitutional solution cannot be given by any committee and it is the work of the government of India”, said Dev Varman.
On the other, the BJP is down to 35 MLAs in the House of 60 now, while the IPFT strength stands at six.
The tribal MLA of the ruling BJP-IPFT alliance in Tripura had quit on Friday, with indications of joining the Tipra Motha.
Earlier, BJP MLA Burbu Mohan Tripura and IPFT MLA Brishaketu Debbarma had also quit their respective parties and seats and joined the TIPRA Motha led by Pradyut Kishore Manikya of the erstwhile Tripura Royal family that is fast emerging as the strongest tribal front of the state, replacing the ruling BJPs ally IPFT.
