Agartala Sept 15: Indigenous leaders Dinesh Debbarma, Sridam Debbarma severed ties with TIPRA Motha and also cut off the Tipraland State Party (TSP) as they were not given party tickets during the 2023 assembly elections, said Pradyot Kishore Debbarma.
Friday, as the former Chairman of TIPRA Motha and Royal scion landed at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, he was questioned by the reporters over the announcement of Tipraland State Party (TSP) that recently announced separation from the TIPRA Motha.
On September 11, 2023 the Tipraland State Party (TSP) announced separation from TIPRA Motha questioning the stand of the latter in its fight for the welfare of Tiprasa community and demand for Tipra Land.
The leaders, Dinesh Debbarma and Sridam Debbarma also claimed TIPRA Motha as a ‘Car without a driver’ and claimed its existence to be uncertain.
Friday, while answering to the questions of the reporters over these allegations raised by the former Motha leaders, Pradyot said, “Such statements from Dinesh and Sridam are out of frustration as they were not given tickets from Ramchandraghat and other places during the 2023 assembly election”.
Over the claims of ‘uncertain future’ of TIPRA Motha and ‘fight for Tipra Land’, Pradyot said, “The fight for Tipra Land and rights of Tiprasa people will continue till my last breath and until we achieve the same. TIPRA Motha is just a party or an organization under the banner of which we are fighting. But the real fighters are the indigenous people”.
“It is easy to form a party. but investing money and organizing movements while keeping everyone together is tough”, he said.
Debbarma further said, “To fulfill the demands of Tipra Land and constitutional rights of the Tiprasa people, it is necessary to meet the present heads of the government be it BJP or any other party in power. Ask Sridam or Dinesh to arrange a meeting with Amit Shah in Delhi if they can do so”.
Pradyot said that he himself or leaders like Bijoy Hrangkhawl also did not get tickets to contest the polls in the last assembly polls. But they didn’t sever ties with the party.
He urged the indigenous people to have faith in the fight for their rights which will continue in the coming days.
