DM assures to address issues of Reang villagers, who threatens to boycott LS poll in East

Churaibari, April 24: 24 hours after the Reang tribes of Thungchrai ADC village in a remote hilly area of Sher Chandra Para threatened to boycott the ensuing Lok Sabha polls on April 26 next, the District Magistrate of the North Tripura district Debapriya Bardhan assured the villagers to address their issues after the election and urged the agitated villagers to participate in the electoral process.
The villagers, who mostly belong to the jhumia family on Tuesday last complained about deplorable road conditions and water shortage in the area and expressed their concern over the role of the administration. They alleged that they are reeling under acute drinking water crisis since long and moreover due to the deplorable condition of the road in the village, they are facing various hurdles, especially in the rainy season.
A delegation of the district administration led by the DM Debapriya Bardhan rushed to the village and took stock of the situation of the villagers. The DM later interacted with the villagers and assured them that their issues will be addressed soon after the end of the election.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday evening, the DM said that the villagers were requested to participate in the electoral process.
